Vice President Highlights Early Dengue Awareness Importance
Vice President Sara Duterte took a firm stand on Monday, June 2, reminding all Filipinos about the vital role of early dengue awareness in protecting communities. She emphasized the urgent need to maintain clean environments and adopt safety measures against dengue, a dangerous mosquito-borne disease.
During Dengue Awareness Month, Duterte appealed for stronger support of the Department of Health’s (DOH) campaign to curb dengue fever. This viral illness ranges from mild symptoms to severe, life-threatening complications.
Unite Against Dengue Spread
She shared practical steps to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds, such as removing stagnant water from flower pots, bottles, containers, and old tires. Regular inspection of indoor spaces like curtains, drawers, sofas, and cabinets is also crucial.
Protecting Families Through Simple Actions
To shield families, Duterte recommended using window and door screens, mosquito nets while sleeping, and wearing long-sleeved clothing. Applying insect repellents further reduces the risk of mosquito bites.
Moreover, she encouraged participation in community clean-up drives to help reduce mosquito populations.
“Ang aksyon laban sa dengue ay proteksyon ng bawat isa sa ating pamilya,” she stressed, highlighting that individual efforts collectively safeguard everyone.
Local officials and health experts echoed the call for vigilance and community cooperation to combat dengue effectively.
