Voting in the precincts of Guadalupe Elementary temporarily paused
Voting at Guadalupe Elementary School’s precincts in Cebu City was temporarily halted on election day Monday after seven automated counting machines ran into technical difficulties. This unexpected problem caused delays even in the express lanes, forcing voters to wait for up to an hour.

Jonah Cordero, chair of the Electoral Board for the affected precincts, explained that the ballots were not being accepted by the machines when the issue first appeared. Fortunately, a DESO Technical Support staff member quickly cleaned the scanners on site, allowing voting to resume shortly after.
Significance of the voting in the precincts of Guadalupe Elementary
Guadalupe Elementary is the largest voting center in Cebu City and attracts several candidates who cast their votes there. On election day, around 721,469 registered Cebu City voters are expected to participate. Meanwhile, Cebu province as a whole has 3.4 million registered voters, ranking it fifth among the vote-rich provinces in the Philippines.
