Warrants of Arrest Issued in Human Trafficking Case
Warrants of arrest issued target a former presidential spokesperson, a lawyer, and 48 other individuals in connection with a qualified human trafficking case. The charges stem from their alleged involvement in a scam hub operated by Lucky South 99, a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) facility located in Porac, Pampanga.
The Angeles Regional Trial Court Branch 118 issued these warrants on Thursday. They are linked to 11 separate complaints filed for violations of Republic Act 9208, known as the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012.
Lucky South 99 and the Human Trafficking Allegations
Lucky South 99 drew national attention after a raid exposed illegal activities within the POGO facility. Authorities uncovered evidence of torture, kidnapping, and sex trafficking during the operation. Over 150 foreign workers were rescued, many reportedly held against their will.
The Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) confirmed these findings, intensifying government efforts to crack down on POGO-related crimes across the country.
Despite the allegations, Lucky South 99 has denied any wrongdoing.
Key Figures Implicated in the Case
Among those facing arrest is the former presidential spokesperson, accused of facilitating the hub’s operation by helping to secure its license. Another suspect, Cassandra Ong, was named as the authorized representative of Lucky South 99.
Documents revealed that the former spokesperson was listed as the head of the facility’s legal department during its license renewal attempt, which was ultimately rejected by the Philippine Amusement Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).
However, the former spokesperson maintains his innocence, stating, “I only accompanied Ong in a meeting previously as he thought she was a victim of estafa.” He is currently seeking asylum in the Netherlands.
Legal Proceedings and Current Status
The cases against the suspects were originally filed in April 2025. Since then, the warrants of arrest issued have added pressure on the accused individuals.
Authorities continue to pursue justice for the victims of this qualified human trafficking operation, signaling a strong stance against similar illegal activities in the country.
