BACOLLOD CITY – A tragic accident unfolded in Barangay Tinampa-an, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, when a wayward truck struck a family, resulting in one death and injuries to two minors. The incident occurred on Tuesday, June 10, in Hacienda Aimee.
The 59-year-old victim, Elizabeth, was identified as a resident of Barangay Tinampa-an. According to local authorities, Elizabeth was with her eight-year-old grandson when they stopped by the roadside to buy ice cream from a 17-year-old vendor.

Police Lt. Lovella Cordova, deputy chief of the Cadiz City Police Station, shared that the truck suddenly lost control and hit the group before crashing into Elizabeth’s house. The 23-year-old driver claimed that a malfunctioning steering wheel caused him to lose control of the vehicle.
Elizabeth was rushed to a hospital but unfortunately did not survive her injuries. Meanwhile, her grandson is currently recovering in a private hospital. The young ice cream vendor suffered minor injuries but is expected to recover fully. The truck driver was reported unharmed.
