Yellow Rainfall Warning Issued for Metro Manila and Luzon
A yellow rainfall warning has been declared over Metro Manila and five key areas in Luzon due to Tropical Depression Isang, officials reported on Friday. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) urged residents to stay alert as rainfall between 7.5 and 15 millimeters is expected in these regions within the next three hours.
Areas Under Yellow Rainfall Warning
The warning covers Metro Manila, Bataan, Cavite, Nueva Ecija, parts of Zambales, and Batangas. Specifically, the Zambales towns of Botolan, Cabangan, San Felipe, San Narciso, San Antonio, Subic, Castillejos, San Marcelino, and Olongapo are included. In Batangas, the affected municipalities are Balayan, Calaca, Calatagan, Laurel, Lian, Nasugbu, and Tuy.
Local authorities and community members have been advised that flooding may occur in flood-prone zones due to the expected rainfall.
Current Rainfall Conditions Affecting Surrounding Areas
Meanwhile, light to moderate rains with occasional heavy downpours are currently impacting Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna, Tarlac, and additional parts of Batangas, including Agoncillo, Alitagtag, Balete, Batangas City, Bauan, Tanauan, Cuenca, Ibaan, Lemery, Lipa, Lobo, Mabini, Malvar, Mataasnakahoy, Padre Garcia, Rosario, San Jose, San Juan, San Luis, San Nicolas, San Pascual, Santa Teresita, Santo Tomas, Taal, Talisay, Taysan, and Tingloy.
Quezon municipalities such as General Nakar, Infanta, Real, Panukulan, Burdeos, Polillo, Patnanungan, and Jomalig, as well as Zambales towns Candelaria, Iba, Masinloc, Palauig, and Santa Cruz, are also experiencing rainfall that may last for up to three hours and possibly extend to nearby areas.
Tropical Depression Isang’s Status
In a separate update, meteorological officials noted that Tropical Depression Isang was last tracked over the coastal waters of Casiguran, Aurora. The system is moving westward at a speed of 15 kilometers per hour, with maximum sustained winds reaching 55 kilometers per hour and gusts up to 75 kilometers per hour.
Residents in affected areas are urged to monitor updates and prepare for possible flooding and heavy rain. Community leaders emphasized the importance of staying vigilant as the weather conditions evolve.
