The elder Ruma was fatally shot on the evening of April 23 while campaigning in a barangay. Authorities suspect a sniper was responsible for the attack. Despite this tragedy, the election resulted in a decisive win for his daughter, reflecting the community’s resilience and hope for continuity in leadership.
